Albury IVF does not advise the early release of superannuation due to the significant long-term impact on your income. The decision on whether to apply for early release of your superannuation for IVF is one you should consider very carefully. The release of funds from super on compassionate grounds is only allowed in very specific circumstances.
We are here to help you on your journey, making it as affordable as possible and there may be other options available to you. There are several steps you should take to make sure you understand your options and the financial impacts of the early release of superannuation and that short-term gain may cause long term pain. Rebates
Pre-IVF Fertility Testing Rebate (for NSW residents)
The Pre-IVF Fertility Testing Rebate helps eligible NSW residents cover the costs of fertility testing. If you have incurred out-of-pocket costs for eligible fertility tests you can apply for a one-time $250 rebate. You can only apply for the rebate once.
Eligibility:
- You must be a NSW resident
- You must be a woman (eligible fertility tests may be for a man or a woman, but only women can submit an application for the rebate)
- You must have been referred for eligible fertility tests by your specialist
- You must have a receipt for an out-of-pocket cost for one of the following pre-IVF fertility tests after 1 October 2019:
What is covered by the Pre-IVF Fertility Testing rebate?
- Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test
- pelvic ultrasound
- ovulation blood test
- semen analysis.
Pre IVF Fertility Testing Rebate
Fertility Treatment Rebate (for NSW residents)
The Fertility Treatment Rebate is designed to help with the costs of IVF and other Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatments. Women in NSW who have received an eligible fertility treatment from 1 October 2022, are able to submit a claim for a one-off rebate of up to $2,000.
Eligibility
- The female applicant must be a NSW resident
- You must be undertaking your fertility in a private clinic like Albury IVF
- You must have out of pocket expenses from an accredited provider
- The rebate is available until 1 October 2026, or until the available funds are exhausted.
- If you received the Pre-IVF Fertility Testing Rebate, you can still apply for the Fertility Treatment Rebate.
Please keep all receipts associated with your treatment. Claims are made through the Service NSW website. If you are having difficulty making your claim, please contact our administrative team for further assistance.

COUNSELLING & SUPPORT
Counselling
Counselling services are in place at most Fertility clinics in Australia, in acknowledgment of the emotional difficulties that many patients face as they try to start, expand or complete their families. The counselling service at Albury IVF can be accessed by anyone undergoing treatment at our clinic.
Counselling is provided for:
- emotional support and guidance
- preparing for the treatment process and beyond
- navigating decision-making
- mandatory counselling for donor and surrogacy cases
Support counselling is optional, and patients are entitled to one included counselling session per ART treatment cycle.

FERTILITY PRESERVATION
Fertility is declining…
The decrease in women’s ovarian function and men’s semen count is extremely concerning.
According to the Australian Department of Health, one in nine couples now face infertility issues. At Albury IVF, we are seeing an increasing number of young women in their late 20s and early 30s with poor ovarian function and premature ovarian failure. This appears likely to be related to environmental factors.
Depending on your circumstances, it may be worth having your ovarian function assessed. This can be done with an AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) blood test and a pelvic ultrasound looking at the number of follicles in each ovary. If you do have a low ovarian reserve, you may want to bring forward your plans to have children or consider freezing eggs for use later.
Although egg freezing can be very expensive, and can require three or more egg collections, Albury IVF offers a realistic option. Our pricing, designed to provide for the freezing of enough eggs for a future pregnancy, includes three egg collections and freezing for an out-of-pocket cost of $5,000.
